Do you feel lonely? Isolated? Like you don’t quite fit in or haven’t found your people?

 God invites everyone to be a part of his family. The Bible says, “See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God!” (1 John 3:1a). God wants to call you his child and give you a place to belong.

 The family of God is made up of all those who believe in Jesus. This family that you’re invited into is to be characterized by many things: love, goodness, devotion, honor, service, patience, sharing, hospitality, peace, humility, selflessness, and forgiveness (Romans 12:9-21). This family doesn’t perfectly live up to this standard, but God is always at work making his people more like him.

You also have a role to play in the family of God. The Bible says that those who follow Jesus are a part of the “body of Christ.” Just like in our physical bodies, this body of Christ needs each and every one of its parts. “The eye cannot say to the hand, ‘I don’t need you!’ And the head cannot say to the feet, ‘I don’t need you!’” (1 Corinthians 12:21).

God invites you to bring your distinct personality, your God-given gifts, and the things that you care deeply about to his family to both meet the needs of others and to change the world. You are needed in the body of Christ.
